Roberts hired as Medicaid, CHIP dental director
John “J.R.” Roberts has been hired as HHSC’s Medicaid and CHIP dental director. Roberts, the first person to hold the newly created position, started work March 12. He will work with stakeholders on issues related to dental and oral health and will help update Medicaid dental policies.
Roberts is a graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry and completed a residency in hospital dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. In addition to his experience in private practice, he worked with Met Life Quality Management and with UnitedHealthcare as national clinical director for government programs.
Website promotes Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week
May 6–12 has been designated Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and the Texas System of Care has set up a website to promote events going on statewide designed to raise awareness. You can check out the activities by clicking the banner below or visiting the Texas System of Care website.
NEMO-Q project takes technology award
HHSC has been named a 2012 Computerworld Honors Laureate for its NEMO-Q customer flow management system, which helps reduce waiting time and stress in its eligibility offices. HHSC was selected from more than 500 nominations submitted from 25 countries.
The NEMO-Q system, judges said, “shows the humanitarian benefits and measurable results of applying technology to meet a specific social need.”
All of the winners’ case studies will be placed in the program’s international archives and featured online at www.cwhonors.org.
