HHSC has launched a new website to help women learn more about the Texas Women’s Health Program, download an application, or find a doctor or clinic. The site, www.TexasWomensHealth.org, allows women to enter a city or ZIP code and get a listing of Women’s Health Program providers close to where they live.
HHSC also is continuing to recruit providers for the program. On April 30, a federal district court issued an injunction prohibiting HHSC from enforcing the rule banning abortion providers and their affiliates from the Medicaid Women’s Health Program against nine Planned Parenthood organizations. Later on April 30, a federal appeals judge issued a stay of the injunction.
The stay allows HHSC to enforce the rule until it gets further direction from the court. That means that as of May 1, 2012, a provider that did not return a certification form or that had its certification rejected may not submit claims for WHP services. A provider can complete the certification at any time and can then submit claims for services provided on or after the date of certification.
