Children's Policy Council

The Children's Policy Council (House Bill 1478 of the 77th Texas Legislature) assists health and human services agencies in developing, implementing, and administering family support policies and related long-term care and health programs for children.  The Council produces a biennial report with recommendations to the HHSC Executive Commissioner and the Texas Legislature.

The Council membership is comprised of a majority of relatives of consumers of long-term care and health programs for children, and a variety of members from community, faith, business and other organizations.

The latest council recommendations (PDF) were presented to the Texas Legislature and the Texas Health and Human Services Executive Commission in September 2012.
