The Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program responds to the diverse needs of children and families in communities at risk and provides an opportunity for collaboration and partnership at various levels to improve health and development outcomes (including coordination and delivery of critical health, development, early learning, child abuse and neglect prevention, and family support services) for at-risk children through evidence-based home visiting programs. This new program plays a crucial role in the national effort to build quality, comprehensive statewide early childhood systems for pregnant women, parents and caregivers, and children from birth to 8 years of age – and, ultimately, to improve health and development outcomes.
Raising Texas is a statewide, collaborative effort to strengthen Texas' system of services for young children and families so that all children enter school healthy and ready to learn. Through a collaborative partnership of state agencies, community based organizations and key stakeholders, a state plan has been developed to improve the current system of services for all children age birth to 6. Visit the Raising Texas website to learn more about the project. The Raising Texas strategic plan was three years in the making and is designed to promote evidence-based practice and increase coordination among health, behavioral health and education services.
