DADS’ Benny Treviño Remembered for Great Personality, Compassion

Benny Treviño

Benny Treviño

Benny W. Treviño, 57, a direct support professional at the DADS San Antonio State Supported Living Center, died May 27 after a brief illness. He had worked for the state for more than nine years.

Supervisor Patricia Jones described Treviño as “a happy guy who was always joking and ready to help others. Benny was a man of true compassion. I remember the time he sat with a terminally ill patient in the hospital and held his hand as he passed away. Benny routinely checked on patients admitted to the hospital and ensured that their care was sound. He would also talk to their loved ones and comfort them during difficult times.”

Jones added that Treviño was an avid fisherman. “He always had a big fish tale to share — and we loved to listen to those stories. We just loved his personality, his smile and the compassion he showed everyone in need. It is a big loss for us. We will miss him dearly.”
