Medicaid Managed Care Proposals

Tarrant Service Area Sees Temporary Change for
STAR+PLUS Enrollment

On Feb. 1, 2011, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will implement the Medicaid STAR+PLUS program in the Dallas and Tarrant services areas. STAR+PLUS offers integrated acute and long-term services and supports for Medicaid clients who have disabilities or are ages 65 or older. HHSC awarded contracts to four managed care organizations to provide coverage for the delivery of these services.

Dallas Service Area (includes Dallas, Collin, Ellis, Hunt Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall counties):
· Molina Healthcare of Texas
· Superior HealthPlan

Tarrant Service Area (includes Tarrant, Denton, Hood, Johnson, Parke, and Wise counties):
· Amerigroup Texas.
· Bravo Health Texas

In the Tarrant Service Area, Bravo Health has been placed on temporary enrollment suspension due to concerns about the ability to accurately process acute and long term services and supports claims. This means that until the enrollment suspension is lifted members in the Tarrant Service Area will have only one health plan available. HHSC expects that the Bravo enrollment suspension will be lifted by May 1, 2011. When the enrollment suspension is lifted, Tarrant Service Area members will be informed about the availability of a second health plan.
