Regional Community Relations
A resource for Medicaid stakeholders
Regional Community Relations specialists foster partnerships with stakeholders to improve delivery and access to Medicaid and CHIP services. These specialists are located throughout the state and link government resources to families, medical and dental providers, hospitals, faith- and community-based organizations, schools and others to promote improvements to the health care system. The specialists provide information about Medicaid and CHIP, offer assistance in organizing community events and coordinate public meetings, including Medicaid and CHIP Regional Advisory Committee Meetings.
Applications Being Taken For New Task Force
HHSC is now taking applications for a new Task Force on Improving Relations with Nonprofits. The task force was established by House Bill 1965 of the 82nd Texas Legislature and is intended to help direct the faith and community-based interagency coordinating group, which is made up of 25 state agency representatives and the OneStar Foundation.
Serving on the task force requires participation in task force meetings, which will be held periodically in Austin. Members will not receive compensation for participation on the task force, and members will not be reimbursed for travel expenses.
Applications for those interested in serving on the new task force are being accepted now through Aug. 31, 2011 from representatives of statewide nonprofit organizations, local governments, faith-based groups, consultants to nonprofit corporations, experts in grant writing, and statewide associations of nonprofits.
