Health Coordination and Consumer Services
HHSC’s Office of Health Coordination and Consumer Services coordinates programs and services for Texans in the following areas:
Office of Acquired Brain Injury: Provides guidance and service coordination source for survivors of acquired brain injuries and their families, including returning combat veterans, to ensure a comprehensive system of care through federal, state and local resources. The office also supports the Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Council that educates and informs consumers, providers and policy makers.
Medical Transportation Program: Provides free non-emergency transportation to Texans with Medicaid coverage and for the Children with Special Health Care Needs program.
Office for Program Coordination for Children and Youth: Assists in coordinating programs and initiatives that serve children and youth across health and human service systems through several programs and initiatives.
Children’s long-term care (Children’s Policy Council, Permanency Planning)
Frew Strategic Initiatives: The Texas Legislature approved funding for strategic medical and dental initiatives to expand children's access to Medicaid services. The funding for strategic initiatives is included as part of the Frew v. Hawkins lawsuit over utilization of preventive services in children's Medicaid.
