Overview

The Consumer Direction Workgroup (CDW) is established by Texas Government Code, Section 531.052, to advise the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) about the delivery of services through consumer direction in all programs offering long-term services and support.

Consumer-directed services (CDS)—when compared to agency-directed services—offer more freedom, choice, and control to people that use long-term services and supports and mental health services. They have more say in deciding who provides their services and supports and when those services will be delivered.  The CDS option is authorized by Texas Government Code, Section 531.051.

Visit the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) website for detailed information about the Consumer Directed Services option.
