Vendor Implementation

  1. Establish which services you will be offering.

  2. Download format specification documentation. This documentation contains all information you will need to begin testing for production except your IDs. Specification documentation is available through the TexMedNet Bulletin Board System in the DOCSPECS library. For initial access to the TexMedNet BBS, email the TexMedNet helpdesk at NHICTEXMED@EXSC01.EXCH.EDS.com and include your organization name, telephone number and fax number.

  3. Documentation specification questions should be sent to the TexMedNet Email address SPECQUEST. Your email should contain the following:
    • Your organization Name
    • Contact Name
    • Contact Phone Number
    • Fax Number
    • Best Time of Day to Contact You
    • Type of Service (Eligibility, Appeals, Etc.)
    • Type of Format
    • Questions

    The email address will be accessed by NHIC specification experts at 10:00 a.m. each working day. A specifications expert will call the indicated contact person within 24 hours after receiving the email. Telephone communication from you should take place through Provider Automation or your Representative. This will enable specification experts to fully utilize their time in answering your questions.

  4. Request an ECMS and TexMedNet ID by faxing the following information to 1 (512) 514-4228. You will receive your ID's within two weeks.
    • TexMedNet ID Request
    • Organization Name
    • Address
    • City/State/Zip
    • Contact Name
    • Contact Phone Number
    • Fax Number
    • Tax ID
    • Type of Services you will be supporting (eligibility, appeals, etc.)
    • Type of Format used for claims submission (i.e., NSF, UB92, ANSI X12 837)
    • Listing of Billing Provider Numbers that will use this service
    • Indicate if you will be distributing software for these provider numbers or if your organization will process the transactions.
  5. Test procedures for eligibility, electronic remitance and status report and VANS should be requested by faxing the following to 1 (512) 514-4228:
    • Testing Procedures
    • Service you will be testing
    • Organization Name
    • Contact Name
    • Contact Phone Number
    • Fax Number

Begin Testing Claims

TexMedNet features a self-test system. Vendors may self-test or ask for the assistance of NHIC. Vendors are encouraged to contact NHIC for testing assistance. The following steps should be followed for assisted testing:

  • Limit test files size to 10 transactions
  • Transmit the test file to the Production BBS using a test indicator within the transaction
  • Within 24 hours after sending the file to the Production BBS, please send the information below to the appropriate TexMedNet Email address: Access the TexMedNet BBS by calling 1 (512)257-0570.
  • Include the following in the text of the Email message:
    • Company Name
    • Contact Name
    • Contact Phone Number
    • Batch ID of Test File
    • ECMS ID
    • Date/Time Transmitted
    • Anticipated Volumes for first production day
    • Anticipated Volumes at Full Implementation

After saving the Email message, select the "attach" capability to upload the test file to the Email.

    VENDELIG - Eligibility
    VENDAPPEL - Appeals

The test reviewer will acknowledge your mail and contact you. You should download and review your responses prior to this contact.
